The Story Behind Horace Street
My parents lived their values, making Horace Street a place where people mattered most.
My earliest childhood memories are of feeling safe, loved, encouraged, counted on, and pretty happy, in a modest home with six siblings on Horace Street in a town just outside of Philadelphia.
My mom valued togetherness and a good laugh. She could talk with ease to anyone, often with a turn of phrase that seemed to be the solution for problems of all sizes for our family and the broader neighborhood. She possessed the skills of a CFO, the patience of a saint, and she appeared tireless.
My dad was a proud, lifelong employee of DuPont, a volunteer firefighter and a lover of the great outdoors. He was a quiet, sensible leader whom people instinctively trusted.
In memory of my parents, William J. Carter, Jr. and Margaret McCabe Carter, Horace Street Consulting will donate annually to nonprofit organizations working to improve life for others in ways that align with the spirit of Horace Street:
Safe, inclusive spaces for kids to live, learn and play.
Impactful community engagement.
Honoring and preserving nature.
